A work that shrinks whole landscapes into the palm of your hand. This small Banyue teapot, crafted by Artisan Zhu Yongkao, is not only beautiful in form but also boasts impressive performance.
Masterful carving: Rather than smooth, flowing lines, the artisan used a rough-carving (texturing) technique to shape range upon range of mountains across the body of the pot.
Lid: The lid too is carved with veins radiating out from the knob, like a halo of light or a high mountain peak, in perfect harmony with the body of the pot.
Feel: In the hand, the textured veins give a most pleasing grip, holding the pot securely without slipping.
Form: A flattened body, a wide base and a low centre of gravity make it extremely stable. The banyue shape has always been loved for its gentle, modest yet full-bodied beauty.
Capacity 110ml: Perfectly suited to solo drinking (tea for one)
Benefits:
Lets the water pour out extremely fast and strong.
No worry of a clogged spout, even when brewing small-leaf or broken-leaf teas.
Cuts off the pour cleanly and neatly, without dripping.
Nixing ware from Qinzhou: A ceramic of antique bronze-brown colour that grows glossier with use (developing a patina).
Tight-fitting lid: Very high standard of mechanical finish; the lid seals snugly and retains heat well.
