In the world of tea, if the zisha teapot is the "king," then Nixing ware from Qinzhou (China) is likened to a "muse" full of character. Today, we invite you to admire a fully handmade piece that brings together every quality one could ask for: beautiful form – excellent clay – superb performance.
At first glance, the teapot draws you in with its aubergine shape (the form of an eggplant). This is one of the classic teapot shapes, inspired by the image of a ripe, plump purple aubergine.
The rounded, full body symbolises abundance and generous good fortune.
The most precious touch is the lid knob, shaped as a natural, gracefully curving aubergine stem, giving the impression that the pot is a sweet fruit just picked from a Zen garden.
Crafted from Nixing ceramic of Qinzhou, this teapot is not merely a tea vessel but a "treasure" that nurtures the tea:
It softens the water: the most valuable property of Nixing clay is its porosity and its capacity for ion exchange, which makes the tea liquor softer, sweeter and far more refined than tea brewed in an ordinary porcelain pot.
It holds the aroma and deepens the flavour: the pot retains heat well and steeps the fragrance deeply, so the aftertaste lingers and the throat stays sweet long after each cup.
The more you use it, the more beautiful it becomes: Nixing ceramic is renowned for developing a patina. After a period of seasoning, the clay takes on a lustrous glow, softly gleaming like jade – the longer you look at it, the more captivating it is.

The lotus: a symbol of purity – "it grows in the mud yet carries none of the mud's scent." The lotus petals, carved in relief, are so supple they seem to sway in the breeze.
The dragonfly: the small dragonfly alighting on the surface brings the scene to life, evoking a peaceful, still corner of the countryside.
