1. Key features

• Nixing pottery clay: A unique blend from the two banks of the Qin River (mountain loam from the west bank and mineral silt from the east bank), fired above 1150°C to bring out natural kiln-transmutation colour shifts; the body is dense as jade and rings like a bell, the unglazed surface is smooth and glossy, and the pot takes on a rich patina quickly as it is seasoned.

• Tall Shipiao shape: Trapezoidal lines tapering neatly towards the mouth of the pot, a short straight spout for a strong pour, an inverted-triangle handle that sits comfortably in the hand, and a tight-fitting lid that holds in aroma and heat.

• Capacity 110ml: Suited to solo drinking for 1-2 people. It gives the best control over temperature and water volume, and is made for premium teas such as green tea, oolong, pu'er and Tieguanyin.

• 14-hole honeycomb filter: Meticulously hand-drilled with evenly open holes, so the water runs out fast in a round stream, cuts off precisely and keeps every leaf inside the pot.

2. Function and use

• Intended use: Tea drinking alone or with one companion, and a refined addition to a collection of handmade tea ware.

• Breaking in the pot: Rinse clean with warm water, simmer gently with the tea you intend to use for 15 – 20 minutes, then let it cool naturally.

• Caring for the pot: After use, rinse inside and out with clean boiling water only, dry with a soft cloth, avoid leaving water standing, and never use detergent.
