Đường Vũ Lotus Teapot in Qinzhou Nixing Clay is a supreme piece of tea ware, harmoniously combining heritage clay, a classic teapot silhouette and the gifted hands of artisan Hu Dongli. With a capacity of 240ml, it is the perfect choice for tea gatherings of 2 to 4 people, offering a refined tea experience of the highest class.
The Đường Vũ shape (inspired by the caps worn by Tang dynasty officials) is solid and dignified in its beauty, yet no less graceful. Combined with the Lotus motif – the Buddhist symbol of purity and serenity – the piece is not merely a functional tea vessel but a work of art rich in feng shui and spiritual meaning.
Qinzhou Nixing pottery (Guangxi) has a history of more than 1300 years, and is made from a blend of two special clays: purple clay (from the east bank of the Qin River) and white clay (from the west bank of the Qin River).
Outstanding seasoning capacity: Nixing clay has an ideal pore density. The longer it is used, the more tea essence the pot absorbs, developing a patina as smooth and glossy as jade, warm to the touch, and silky.
Bringing out the flavour of the tea: Thanks to its excellent heat retention and its distinctive clay structure, a Nixing teapot preserves the natural aroma in full, making the taste of the tea softer and deeper, and it suits fermented teas particularly well – pu-erh, oolong, black tea, ancient tree tea...
Every detail of this teapot bears the handcrafted mark of artisan Hu Dongli:
Hand-carved lotus motif: Every carved line of the lotus blossom, seed pod and leaf on the body of the pot is vivid, flowing and full of depth, and no two pots are ever exactly alike.
Flawless function: The spout is precisely calibrated for a strong, smooth pour that cuts off cleanly without dribbling. The handle is well balanced, giving a secure grip that never gets hot.
Guaranteeing seal: The base of the pot and the customary positions carry the artisan's seal, guaranteeing the collectible value of the piece.
