Handcrafted by Artisan Hồ Đông Lệ, the 240ml Nê Hưng Ceramic Teapot with Landscape Motif is a perfect union of sculptural pictorial art and ceramic craft at its peak.
An expansive scene from nature: Across the whole body of the pot, artisan Hồ Đông Lệ takes up the knife in place of the brush and painstakingly carves by hand a landscape of mountains and water in harmony. Ranges of peaks appearing and vanishing among the clouds, a winding river and a boat bound for distant shores are rendered with striking vitality, real depth and a true 3D relief.
A settled state of mind: Contemplating this expansive landscape against the quiet ceramic ground while you drink is a wonderful remedy: the mind eases, the clutter of daily life falls away, and you are drawn into nature.
A dense, fine body that breathes: The pot is made from a perfect blend of red clay (east bank) and white clay (west bank) along the celebrated Khâm River. After firing above 1000°C, the ceramic reaches a hardness like metal and rings with a bright, sharp note, yet its structure retains the fine pores that let it breathe so well.
Softens the water, lifts the aroma: The particular breathability of Nê Hưng ware tempers harsh astringency, keeps the original fragrance whole, and brings out the deep, lingering sweetness in the finish of the liquor.
A one-of-a-kind kiln-transformed beauty: The pot is entirely unglazed; its rustic dark brown-purple tone with smoky highlights is the natural result of transformation by fire in the kiln. The longer it is used and "raised" with tea, the more it develops a glossy patina, rich as jade.
