In the serene space of the tea ceremony, a fine zisha teapot is not merely a tool for brewing tea but a kindred spirit carrying the soul of heaven and earth together with the hand of the artisan. The Hehuan Zisha Teapot in Zini Clay, handcrafted by artisan Wang Xiaofeng, is one such masterpiece – a perfect meeting of auspicious cultural meaning, classic clay and superb function.
Classic design: The Hehuan shape has a full, rounded form that echoes the ancient percussion instrument "gong/cymbals" or a ripe persimmon. The body is a skilful joining of two hemispheres set mouth to mouth, creating harmonious, symmetrical and solid lines.
An auspicious message: In Eastern culture, "Hehuan" carries a wonderfully good meaning – a symbol of harmony, reunion, doubled joy and complete happiness. This is a splendid teapot with which to open conversations between kindred spirits at the tea table.
Authentic Yixing ore: The teapot is made from the rare raw zini ore clay of the Yixing region. Zini clay has a warm, deep purple-brown colour, rustic yet thoroughly refined. Natural mineral grains speckle the surface, giving a very genuine visual and tactile effect.
Outstanding "breathing" and aroma retention: Thanks to its characteristic double-pore structure, zini clay holds heat exceptionally well, softens the water and fully awakens the fragrance and the deep, lingering sweetness of every kind of tea. In particular, the longer the pot is used and "nourished" with tea, the more it develops a smooth, glossy patina ("baojiang") with the mellow sheen of jade.
Ideal size: With a capacity of 220ml, this is the perfect choice for tea for two, or for a small gathering (3-4 people). The space inside the pot is roomy enough for leaves such as oolong, pu-erh and Wuyi rock tea to open out fully.
Refinement from the artisan's hand: Every line, from the softly curving handle and the elegant spout to the finial on the lid, was measured and finished by hand with meticulous care by artisan Wang Xiaofeng. The lid seats perfectly to keep the essence in, while the pour is strong and smooth and cuts off cleanly, without dripping onto the tea table.
Delicate, clean filtration: Instead of an ordinary filter, the pot is fitted with an exquisitely made plum-blossom filter inside the spout.
Free flow, crystal-clear liquor: The filter holes are arranged in a plum-blossom pattern that maximises the drainage area, completely stopping even the smallest leaf fragments from reaching the cup without ever clogging, so that every cup poured is crystal clear and evenly filled.
