Within the tradition of Yixing zisha craft, the Phỏng Cổ shape has always held the crown for its balanced, measured beauty and its air of the noble scholar. When this classic shape is worked in rare Hồng Giáng Pha clay by the gifted hands of Artisan Vương Chí Thành, the resulting 140ml Phỏng Cổ Teapot becomes a solitary-brewing treasure that any tea lover would long to own.
Timeless beauty: Phỏng Cổ (modelled on the ancient drum) is one of the most strictly proportioned shapes in the whole world of zisha. The body is flattened with a gently swelling, balanced belly; the lid is round and softly domed, harmonious as heaven meeting earth. Taken as a whole, the shape feels deeply composed, upright and dignified.
A superb feel in the hand: The handle curves in a full ear shape and the spout bends with a fine, subtle line, creating perfect symmetry. Holding the pot, the drinker feels its steadiness, its balance and a deep sense of ease.
Rare natural clay: Made from Hồng Giáng Pha clay (a Giáng Ba Nê ore seam with a naturally high proportion of red clay), the pot carries a vivid orange-red tone, warm and thoroughly refined. Its surface is flecked with glittering duanni mineral grains like scattered stars, giving a visual texture at once rustic and aristocratic.
Outstanding aroma retention: Thanks to the open double-pore structure of Yixing ore, Hồng Giáng Pha both radiates and holds heat exceptionally well, softening harsh astringency and bringing out the full depth of aroma in high-fragrance teas such as oolong, Yancha or pu-erh. The longer the pot is seasoned, the more its patina deepens into a glossy, jade-smooth sheen.
A carefully judged size: At 140ml, this pot is designed for brewing alone or for an intimate session shared by one or two people. The small capacity keeps the tea at its ideal strength, never cooling off or turning overpowering from one infusion to the next.
A guarantee of the artisan's skill: Under the meticulous hands of Artisan Vương Chí Thành, the pot meets the most exacting standards of finish: the lid sits absolutely flush (tilt the pot 90 degrees while pouring and the lid still will not fall), the spout gives a round, powerful stream and cuts off cleanly without leaving a single stray drop. The artisan's exclusive seals are stamped crisply on the base of the pot and inside the lid.
Crystal-clear tea, an even stream: Inside the pot, where the body meets the spout, sits a meticulously handmade multi-hole honeycomb filter.
