Jizhi is one of the upright, geometric teapot shapes of the Yixing zisha tradition — powerful, elegant and outstanding at holding heat. What makes this piece distinctive is the perfect pairing of a solid cylindrical body with the highly artistic "Taiping You Xiang" motif.
On the front, the artisan has incised four calligraphic characters, "Taiping You Xiang" (太平有象), in a wonderfully free and spirited hand. The back carries a finely carved image of a sacred elephant riding the clouds, detailed down to the smallest line. The lid knob, too, is modelled as a small elephant of fortune resting on its knees, a motif rich in feng shui meaning: peace, auspiciousness, prosperity drawn in, and steadfastness for the household.
The pot is made from unrefined zini (purple clay) from the Yixing region. This is the classic clay tea drinkers prize above all others, thanks to its distinctive double-pore structure:

Softens the water, rounds out the tea: The rich natural mineral content of zini interacts well with the tea liquor, taking the edge off any coarse sharpness so the brew becomes softer, sweeter in the finish and fuller in body. The fine clay body, flecked with naturally glittering mineral grains, deepens with long seasoning into a warm, mellow tone with a jade-like sheen.

The jizhi-style spout is drawn straight and tilts proudly upward, giving a straight, forceful pour that cuts off cleanly without dribbling. The lid is fitted so tightly that even a steep pouring angle leaves no leakage at the rim.
Clever 13-hole filter: Inside, a meticulously hand-drilled 13-hole filter keeps the flow strong and even, with no clogging from spent leaves.
