  • Filter system: Evenly drilled honeycomb filter

  • Seals: Crisp hand-carved seals on the base, the lid and the handle

2. Meaning of the shape & the art of flambé firing

  • Meaning of the Moon & Cloud shape: Inspired by the image of moonlight drifting in and out of sight among serene clouds. The body is full and round like the full moon, while the spout and handle curve softly like rolling cloud, bringing a feeling of ease, calm and stillness to the tea space.

  • A one-of-a-kind work of flambé (kiln transmutation) art: Under the natural action of flame, ash and high temperature in the kiln, the minerals in Nixing clay transform their own colour without any chemical glaze. Every finished pot carries colour fields and veining that are utterly unique and never repeated.

  • Qinzhou Nixing clay: Quarried from the mineral silt of the Qin River, the ceramic body is as dense as metal and rings clear as a bell when tapped. The unglazed surface is smooth and fine, and its open pores hold heat long and grow ever more jade-like with seasoning.

  • High degree of finish: The lid seats tightly so no aroma escapes, the handle sits balanced and solid in the hand, and the spout pours in a round stream and cuts off cleanly without dripping.

3. Which teas it suits & instructions for use

  • Which teas it brews best:

    • The outstanding heat storage and heat retention of flambé-fired Nixing ceramic awaken the deep aroma layers in full, soften harsh astringency and bring out a clean sweet finish.

    • Suited to brewing: Pu-erh tea (both sheng and shu pu-erh), Wuyi rock tea (Da Hong Pao, Rou Gui), oolong tea (high-mountain oolong, Tie Guan Yin), red tea and aged white tea.

  • Opening the pot: Rinse the pot clean with warm water, simmer it gently for 15 – 20 minutes together with the tea you intend to use, then lift it out and let it cool naturally.

  • Seasoning the pot: After use, simply rinse the pot clean with boiling water inside and out, dry it with a soft cloth, and never use chemical detergents.
