Tứ Phương (square) form: In the art of zisha ware, the square form (fangqi) has always been an extreme challenge for artisans. "Ninh vi phương, bất vi viên" (better to make a square than a round) – shaping perfectly symmetrical angles demands exceptionally exacting clay-joining technique and firing-temperature control, so that the pot does not warp at the corners or crack. The Tứ Phương form gives the tea table a commanding, dignified and utterly captivating presence.
Aged zini clay: A mature purple zini clay, weathered and stored over many years. Aged zini holds a dense mineral content and a superbly porous, breathable structure that purifies the water, softens harshness and brings out the full body and deep sweet finish of old-tree teas, Pu-erh and fine green teas. Its sombre purple-brown tone deepens with use into a warm glow like antique jade.
Made by artisan Wang Xiaofeng: Every line and every corner of the body is hand-finished with keen precision and decisiveness. The handle and spout are set to strictly calculated symmetrical proportions, giving perfect balance in the hand and in use.
