Uyển Ngọc is one of those teapot shapes with a rounded, soft and full-bodied beauty, like a precious jade on the tea table, among the Yixing zisha family. The outstanding artistic accent of this piece lies in the band of golden Lôi Văn (the meander, or swastika-fret pattern) in a luxurious gold tone painted around the shoulder of the pot, matched by a four-petalled flower motif on the top of the lid knob.
The meander border is rendered crisply, winding on and on without a break, a symbol of eternity, of unending good fortune and of longevity. The combination of the soft, rounded body and the noble gold of the motif not only brings out the antique, aristocratic character of the tea ware, but also carries the feng shui meaning of smooth passage, bringing wealth and lasting prosperity to its owner.
The pot is made from unrefined Zini clay (purple clay) from the Yixing region. This is the classic clay that tea drinkers prize above all others, thanks to its distinctive double-pore structure:
Outstanding heat retention and breathability: keeps the tea from stewing or turning harsh, and preserves intact the freshness and the original aroma of the leaf throughout the session. At a compact 150ml, the pot is ideally suited to quiet solo or two-person drinking, for 1 – 3 people.
Softens the water, rounds out the taste: the abundant natural minerals in Zini interact with the tea liquor, taking the edge off any rough sharpness and making the tea softer, sweeter in the finish and fuller in flavour. Over time, as the pot is seasoned and the tea vapour soaks in, this fine-grained clay visibly deepens into a warm, mellow colour with a bright sheen.

Balance and function: the plump body is perfectly symmetrical. The rounded, soft handle gives a secure, comfortable grip. The gently curved spout produces a slender, powerful stream and cuts off cleanly without dribbling. The lid sits so tightly that even when the pot is tipped at a steep angle to pour, there is no leaking at the rim.
Classic 7-hole filter: inside the pot is a 7-hole filter, drilled by hand with precision, which honours tradition while letting the liquor flow quickly and evenly, with no clogging from spent leaves.
