Xuyet Chi is one of the roundest and most canonical shapes in the zisha teapot family, distinguished by a delicate raised line running around the body that makes it feel at once supple and solid. On this beautiful form, artisan Wang Tianxue has skilfully carved a vivid landscape scene of range upon range of mountains, with clouds and water flowing into one another. The motif not only heightens the antique, refined beauty of the tea ware but also carries auspicious feng shui meaning: steadiness like a mountain, and prosperity and good fortune flowing like water.
The teapot is made from unblended Zini (purple clay) ore from the Yixing region. This is the classic clay tea drinkers prize above all others, thanks to its distinctive double-pore structure:
Outstanding heat retention and breathability: the tea is never stewed or harsh, and the leaves keep their full freshness through many infusions.
Softens the water and rounds out the taste: the abundant natural minerals in Zini interact with the tea liquor, cutting back any rough, astringent edge so the brew becomes smooth, sweet in the finish and fuller in body. The longer this clay is seasoned, the more it takes on a warm, mellow colour and a lustrous sheen, like a treasured antique.
Every 200ml Xuyet Chi Landscape teapot is proof of the consummate craftsmanship and refined taste of artisan Wang Tianxue.
Balance and function: the body is perfectly round and symmetrical, the rounded handle sits easily in the hand, and the softly curved spout produces a slender, powerful stream that cuts off cleanly without dribbling. The lid fits so snugly that you can pour at a steep angle without worrying about leaks at the rim.
Marks of authenticity: the base of the pot, along with the handle and lid, all bear the artisan's own seal, clearly stamped, confirming the piece's high artistic and collectible value.
