Note
1. Teapot shape & clay
-
Teapot shape (Rongtian): A rounded, swelling body, a short neck, a wide base and a softly curved handle. The design feels solid and steady, while giving the leaves inside full room to open out, releasing the maximum of their flavour and aroma.
-
Clay (Zini): Zisha Zini clay has a natural brown tone, a dense, fine body and tiny grains of sand. With its high breathability and outstanding heat retention, Zini clay is especially suited to bringing out the rich fragrance of teas such as oolong, red tea and pu-erh.
2. Artisan
-
Maker (Mengchen): This line of pots carries the seal mark and the making style of Hui Mengchen — a celebrated figure in the history of Yixing Zisha.
-
Signature traits: He is best known above all for small and medium Zini pots, finely worked and graceful in line, particularly prized and collected by gongfu tea drinkers.
3. Filter & capacity
-
Filter (honeycomb filter): Inside, the base of the spout forms a raised dome pierced with many small holes like a honeycomb. This design keeps the spent leaves out completely (broken tea included), gives a fast, strong, even pour and cuts the stream off cleanly without dripping.
-
Capacity (150ml): A small pot size, exactly right for drinking alone (1 person) or drinking in company (2–3 people). This capacity makes the steeping time easy to control, keeps the liquor always fresh and gives just enough for each round.
4. Meaning
-
Name & philosophy: "Rongtian" comes from the saying "Rong tianxia suo bu neng rong" (Holding what the world cannot hold).
-
The image of the Maitreya Buddha: The shape takes its inspiration from the round, open-hearted belly of the Maitreya Buddha, a symbol of tolerance, generosity, a calm mind and an unforced joy as you sit over tea.
