Note

1. Material: Zisha Duanni (raw-ore Duanni)

  • Made from natural Duanni clay in a warm apricot-yellow tone with a mineral-sand sheen, rustic and refined.

  • Properties: High porosity and a dense double-pore structure, good heat retention; it softens any harshness in the brew and brings out a sweet, cooling aftertaste.

  • Seasoning: The mineral surface is smooth, and the more it is used and nourished with tea, the deeper and richer the clay's colour grows, glossy as antique jade.

2. Artistic form: lotus and beetle theme

  • Teacup (capacity 120ml): Shaped after a lotus blossom and a bud just opening, with a naturally undulating rim like pure lotus petals.

  • Tea pitcher (capacity 200ml): The body is stylised from a softly curled lotus leaf, and the spout flares like the edge of the leaf so the pour runs smoothly and cuts off cleanly.

  • Tea strainer: Designed on the structure of a lotus seed pod, fitting the mouth of the pitcher exactly.

  • Unique highlight: A lifelike red-winged ladybird is applied in relief by hand on the body of the cup and the pitcher, creating an eye-catching contrast of colour and bringing a fresh breath of nature to the tea table.

3. Feng shui meaning & the way of tea

  • Lotus: A symbol of nobility, detachment from the worldly and a calm mind.

  • Red ladybird: A symbol of good omens, luck, blessing and a bountiful harvest.

  • Lotus leaf, lotus bud and ladybird blend into a vivid picture of nature that stirs a feeling of ease and stillness while the tea is enjoyed.

4. Making: entirely by hand

  • Every leaf vein and fold of a lotus petal, down to the ladybird's eyes and wing spots, is shaped and applied in relief by hand, meticulously, by the artisan.

  • The parts are balanced in structure, sit solidly in the hand and insulate well, so the set performs exactly as it should in real use.

5. How the set works together

  • The 200ml pitcher and the 120ml cup are perfectly judged for tea drinking from drinking alone to drinking in pairs (or shared out evenly among smaller cups at a group tasting).
