A distinctive clay: Made from mud taken from both banks of the Qinjiang River. The most remarkable thing about Nixing ceramics is that they need no glaze — after high-temperature firing and polishing, the surface takes on a jade-like smoothness and a mirror-like shine.
Kiln transmutation (yaobian): This is the Nixing speciality. During firing, shifts in temperature and mineral content produce natural colour patterns — bronze, liver green, or oxblood red — so that no two strainers ever come out alike.
Balanced proportions: With a strainer diameter of 9cm and a base of 6cm, this strainer offers a wide opening, making it easy to pour tea into it from a teapot or a fairness pitcher without spilling or overflowing.
Two-part construction: The detachable design lets you lift the strainer out to empty the used leaves and clean it in moments. The base acts as a tidy stand, keeping leftover tea from running onto the tea table (chaxi).
