Zisha Tea Pitcher – Plum Blossom Motif. Where the beauty of spring meets the spirit of the East Asian way of tea.A zisha pitcher with a plum blossom motif (plum flowers in bloom) is a symbol of refinement, evoking resilience and freshness in the depth of cold winter – much like the qualities of the tea-loving gentleman: calm, steadfast and pure.
Key features:
• Premium zisha clay:
Made from Yixing zisha clay – a prized clay that holds and regulates heat superbly, keeping the tea warm and its flavour full and rounded.
• Meticulous design – flawless function:
A full, rounded body with a compact, secure handle. The spout is carefully finished so the tea pours evenly and never drips. Suitable for both hot and cooled tea.
• Plum Blossom motif – carved by hand:
The blossoming plum is hand-carved or applied in relief with graceful lines. The plum stands for spring, rebirth, nobility and the spirit that overcomes hardship – a motif that is at once artistic and rich in feng shui meaning.
Use and aesthetics:
The Plum Blossom pitcher – not merely a tea utensil, but a small work of art holding the whole spirit of East Asia in every clear drop of tea.
Using a tea pitcher (also called a serving pitcher, or tea pitcher) is an important part of the art of tea, and is especially widespread in the tea cultures of Vietnam, China and Taiwan. Here is why you should use one:
1. It keeps the flavour even
After brewing in the pot, the tea is not equally strong at the top and at the bottom. Poured straight into the cups, the first and the last drinker get different tastes. A pitcher lets you empty the pot completely and then share the tea out evenly, so every cup tastes the same.
2. It keeps the tea from “stewing” (steeping too long)
If the pot is not emptied once the brew is ready, the leaves go on steeping in hot water and the tea turns harsh and bitter and loses its aroma. A pitcher ends the steeping at exactly the right moment.
3. It shows respect for your guests
Using a pitcher shows thoughtfulness and regard for those you serve, and makes for an elegant, accomplished way of taking tea.
4. It helps control the temperature
Poured from the pot into the pitcher, the tea cools a little before it reaches the cup, so no one scalds themselves and the flavour comes through more fully.
5. It adds beauty to the art of tea
