If you are already familiar with the traditional round-loop-handle teapot shapes, then the Đường Vũ Teapot (Side Handle) will bring you a completely new brewing experience — compact in operation and deeply meditative in character.
Allow us to present this handcrafted masterpiece, made entirely by Master Artisan Chu Dung Khảo.
Side-Handle Design: The most distinctive feature is the handle, which extends out horizontally from the body of the pot. This design not only evokes the tea ceremony style of the Tang dynasty but is also extremely ergonomic.
The benefit: It gives the brewer a firm grip and a relaxed wrist while pouring, and above all you never have to worry about scalding your hand on the heat rising from the body of the pot.
On a smooth black ceramic ground, the artisan has depicted a cluster of Orchids reaching up into the wind:
The orchid symbolises nobility of spirit, the integrity of the gentleman-scholar and a regal beauty.
The incised lines are delicate and flowing, their gold standing out against the dark ground, lending the tea table an air of luxury and stillness.
260ml capacity: A mid-range size, and very versatile. Well suited to tea sessions of 3–4 people, with just enough water to share evenly among the cups without having to refill too often.
Material: Nixing ceramic from Qinzhou is renowned for its ability to "breathe" (its porosity), which softens the water and removes impurities. The brewed tea gains a deeper, sweeter finish and a mellower fragrance.
14-hole filter: The filter is meticulously worked, ensuring a strong, free-flowing pour that will not clog with broken tea leaves.
Tight fit & clean cut-off: The lid is ground to high precision for an extremely tight fit. The spout is short and angled upward, cutting off the flow decisively and cleanly, with no drips on the table.
Thanks to the side-handle design, which makes pouring very fast (the water empties out quickly), this teapot is exceptionally well suited to:
Thái Nguyên Green Tea: It needs a quick pour so the tea does not "scorch", preserving its green colour and its young-rice aroma.
Oolong Tea: It helps the leaves open evenly and release their floral fragrance.
Sheng Pu-erh: It preserves the tea's clean sweetness.
